How to Build Your Perfect Smoothie

Updated: Aug 20, 2020

Ok, so I want ya'll to visualize your perfect smoothie. Do you have it? Ok good, now let me try describing it: Creamy, smooth, full of flavor, colorful.

Did I get it right? Now let me guess - that smoothie probably costs you $10 at your favorite smoothie/juice shop.

Well today, I am sharing with you the perfect smoothie builder so that you can make your perfect smoothie right at home and save those coins!

Now I bet you are wondering, "Ok, how hard can making a smoothie really be?" And the answer is not hard at all! But the key to a GREAT smoothing is getting the ratios correct for that perfect texture. And that's why your smoothies at home never come out as good as the ones at the juice bar down the street. So let's get into some tips for the perfect smoothie.

TIP 1: Always keep some frozen bananas on hand. They are a great way to add a creamy texture to a smoothie as well as some natural sweetness.

TIP 2: For the best texture and flavor you should use frozen fruits. It allows the smoothie to have that thick consistency without all the added water of using ice.

TIP 3: Less is more. You don't need to add a bunch of fruits and veggies to make the best smoothies. Some of my favorites use 5 ingredients or less.

TIP 4: If you are looking to use this as a meal replacement then buy some vanilla protein powder to add it. You can add it to basically any smoothie without changing the flavor and it will keep you fuller longer.

So now that we have those tips down, let's get into the ratios. The basic smoothie recipe calls for a liquid base, some fruits and/or veggies, and then fats/proteins. Check out the guide below or you can download it to get my 3 favorite smoothie recipes included!
